Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of DEFY Document Vault and its available services, including DEFY Document Preparation Services. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you use the service for a business or organization, you confirm that you have authority to accept these Terms on its behalf.

Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding agreement. You must provide accurate account information, protect your login credentials, and promptly notify us through the in-app support channel if you suspect unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity performed through your account.

Not legal advice

DEFY is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice, legal representation, or legal strategy. Templates, generated documents, document preparation services, educational content, and AI-assisted screening are provided for informational or administrative purposes only. They are not a substitute for advice from a licensed attorney. You are responsible for deciding whether a document is appropriate and for reviewing it before use.

Documents, PDFs, and AI-assisted screening

The service uses the information you provide to populate templates and generate documents or PDFs. You are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of that information, reviewing generated materials, obtaining any required signatures, and determining whether a document meets your needs. AI-assisted eligibility screening may stop an intake and recommend consulting a licensed attorney; it does not interpret law, select legal forms, recommend strategy, or guarantee that a matter is suitable for a particular process.

Your content

You retain ownership of content you submit or upload. You grant DEFY permission to host, process, reproduce, and display that content only as reasonably necessary to provide, secure, and improve the service. You represent that you have the right to submit the content and that doing so does not violate law or another person’s rights.

Workspaces and team access

Workspace owners and administrators control invitations and member access. If you add team members, you are responsible for authorizing their access and removing it when no longer appropriate. Members may be able to view or change shared workspace content according to their assigned role. Actions may be recorded in activity and audit logs.

Subscriptions and billing

Available plan features and prices are shown before purchase. Paid subscriptions are processed by Stripe and renew automatically for the billing period shown at checkout until canceled. You may manage or cancel an eligible subscription from billing settings; cancellation generally takes effect at the end of the current paid period. Except where required by law, charges already paid are nonrefundable. Taxes may apply. Business plan arrangements may require contacting DEFY rather than self-service checkout.

Acceptable use

You may not use the service unlawfully; infringe intellectual property or privacy rights; upload malicious code; probe or bypass security or access controls; interfere with the service; access another user’s account or content without permission; use the service to create deceptive, fraudulent, or harmful materials; or resell or copy the service except with our written permission.

Service availability and changes

We may maintain, update, add, or remove features and may temporarily interrupt access for operational or security reasons. We do not promise that every feature will always be available or error-free. We may change these Terms by posting an updated version. If a change materially affects your rights, we will provide reasonable notice when appropriate.

Suspension and termination

You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, create security or legal risk, fail to pay applicable charges, or misuse the service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination, including ownership, disclaimers, and limitations of liability, will survive.

Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided "as is" and "as available." DEFY disclaims implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and noninfringement. We do not guarantee any legal, business, funding, filing, or other outcome from using the service.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, DEFY will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenues, data, or business opportunities arising from the service. DEFY’s total liability for claims relating to the service will not exceed the amount you paid to DEFY for the service during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so these limits may not apply to you.

General terms

If part of these Terms is unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer these Terms without our consent. We may transfer them as part of a reorganization, financing, acquisition, or sale of assets. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any service-specific disclosures you accept, are the agreement between you and DEFY regarding the service.
